Where does Argan oil come from?
It is in the south-west of Morocco that the production of argan is most widespread. Fruit of the argan tree, argan is actually hidden under a pod called a nut. Each nut contains about three fruits called arganons. It is these seeds that will be cold pressed to collect the precious argan oil. The maturity of the nuts occurs at the time of spring and it is at the arrival of summer that the fruits fall and can be harvested.
It is once extracted that we can incorporate it into our favorite dermocosmetic care formulas! In the list of ingredients (INCI), it is under the name Argania spinosa kernel oil that you will find it.
Tip:
At Gamarde, you will notice that its scientific name is followed by an asterisk in our formulas. This indicates that it comes from Organic Farming. Subject to strict cultivation conditions, this guarantees responsible and sustainable sourcing, with increased traceability.
What are the properties of Argan oil?
Argan oil is an oil particularly endowed with active molecules, which give it very interesting properties at the cutaneous level. It is naturally rich in unsaturated essential fatty acids (omega 6 and omega 9), in sterols and in vitamin E. All of the substances that compose it will deploy all their benefits on the skin to provide it with two essential responses to its balance.
-
A nutritious answer:
Present in significant amounts in this precious vegetable oil, omega 6 and 9 and sterols will help prevent dryness by providing renewed nutrition to the skin. The skin barrier, or hydrolipidic film, is reinforced against external aggressions. This is why argan is recommended in dermocosmetics for dry skin, but not only.
-
An antioxidant response:
For this power, it is in particular vitamin E that comes into play. It will contribute to the preservation against skin aging.
Indeed, confronted daily with environmental aggressions, the skin is subjected to so-called oxidative stress. The sun, pollution, tobacco, or unsuitable nutrition are aggravating factors of this stress. The cells of the skin, which naturally produce free radicals, synthesize them in a very excessive way under these conditions. These molecules reactive to oxygen are unfortunately capable of deteriorating the cells and the proteins of the extracellular matrix, due to an instability linked to a missing electron. Free radicals seek to compensate for this lack by binding to other molecules in the body, thus causing irreversible skin damage.
The richness in vitamin E of Argan oil will make it possible to yield an electron to these molecules which will thus stabilize. Free radicals are therefore no longer harmful to the skin and the skin retains a healthy appearance.
Why is Argan oil so indicated for anti-aging care?
After 25 years, the skin becomes more sensitive to environmental aggressions and begins to lose its elasticity. Fine lines and wrinkles then appear, accentuated by skin conditions, daily facial expressions, and the external environment (UV rays, pollution, stress, etc.). It is absolutely necessary to begin to fill them without delay.
Thanks to its nourishing and antioxidant properties, Argan oil is therefore a great ally for mature or aging skin.
- It strengthens the hydrolipidic film of the epidermis, which tends to easily become dehydrated with age, to limit transepidermal water loss and maintain skin elasticity.
- It helps to and regenerate the skin which has seen its first wrinkles and fine lines appear
- It helps protect cells against free radicals which cause premature aging of the skin.
